I got the game working with an alternate (1/4') to USB cable. [www.amazon.com] I had recently purchased the Lightsnake from Guitar Center, and was sure it would work with the game. Howeve, initially it did not.

The game inherently looks specifically for the 'Real Tone' cable. There is a very simple (.exe fix) / (mod) that can be used in place of the game's original.exe I cannot go into deatil here as to how I accomplished this feat.

However feel free to contact me for details.:) [MY HUMBLE OPINION] ***I do not believe this fix to be anything more than a (mod) as allowed by most STEAM ToS. The players are simply looking for a way to change the physical input device to access the software. Steam is a Digital Rights Management company that historically does not dictate the types of 'controllers' we choose to access our games.*** [note to prospective moderators]. Please feel free to assist with this discussion, and educate me on any misconceptions I may have in my opinions above. Thanks in advance.:) My Setup: ------------------------------ [Gibson Les Paul] --> [Lightsnake USB] --> [Alienware M18X] --> [HMDI + Cables] --> [LED TV + Crate Amp]. Because jedi has no ballsacks.

How to get coordinates for minecraft on a mac. The black one is much cooler than the white one.

Go to youtube and search 'How to play Rocksmith without a Real Tone Cable' 2. Download the file in the description 3. Move the downloaded file to the rocksmith folder 4. It should replace the existing file, this is okay 5. Plug in your guitar, i used line in, so i went and disabled all of my microphones apart from the line in 5.1. Do this by right clicking on the speaker button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen 5.2. Right click on the speaker > recording devices > disable all but the one that responds to your guitar 6.

Go into steam and press play, my rocksmith will not work if i play it via the folder 7. Fingers crossed it works for you.

Shame on the devs for not allowing a native bypass because it's silly we need a special cord. I'm cool with them supplying them however. Changing xmx xms for eclipse in mac and cheese. I'm not so sure about this. I'll be honest - a game like this, I wanted to try before I bought it.

So I got it from. I assure everyone, only as a means to see how it works. Since I don't own their propriatary cable, I obviously had to make do with something else. I do have a Line 6 RealTone GX, which creates a pretty good input for the guitar (I can also choose to route the signal through the line in). Needless to say the game recognized the guitar (with the aformentioned 'fix') however would stop recognizing notes sometime after a song has started (despite the guitar being heared and producing sounds in the game). Admittedly, this might be a configuraiton issue, but the point remains - this method might not always work, and I'm leaning towards buying a full package (the idea and the way the game works - aside from note detection - seems to be awesome). This is a known issue with Rocksmith - and occurs even with the genuine real tone cable; although people using 3rd party solutions tend to experience it more often as far as I can tell. The consensus of opinion is that it is caused by excessive input killing the note recognition - turning down the guitar's volume knob can help minimise the impact of this; as can cleaning out the guitar's knobs to minimise pops and crackles. Unplugging and reinserting the cable usually restores note-recognition.
