Was really liking the sound/look of Avid Artist Mix, but then found many threads online that it doesn't work well with Logic so that's off the table now. Pc mac network. FYI, I use the Avid Artist Control (w/4 faders, touch screen, transport, + more), and I use it (plug & play), flawlessly, with Logic Pro. I've been using mine for two years, and Avid just put out their latest Eucon 7.6.1 driver, that appears to be working, & totally compatible with OSX 10.8.3, so far for me (see my signiture). It all works seamlessly for my setup. Seems to me that Avid is seeking to present the Avid Artist line as just that.

Something that artist would use no matter if they are using Pro Tools, or other key DAWs like Logic Pro. I love it, because of how well it works with all my third-party plugins as well. Read though the Forum Link. Myself, I was running Eucon 2.6.2 on Snow Leopard up to and including 10.6.3 for ages (no problems, again I run on a iMac 2.8GHz IntelCore i7, and lot of the 'post' seem to be on other platforms ); another thing is that the latest driver was released April 15, 2013, and there are no comments behond April 5th, though I think it funny that no 'posters' came back with. It's fixed comments, but who does that right, we just love to complain If you do like the Artist Mix, and are not in a rush, watch the post on that thread, to see if the latest 2.7.1 revision is bug ok for all (it works great so far for me). My question is about using either the Avid Artist Mix, or the Mackie Control, to deal with third-party software instruments, specifically, Kontakt instrument Libraries. When I look at the videos for Avid, they're always using plugins (effects, instruments) that are bundled with Logic Pro.

My main need (besides channel/bus routing and transport) is running a variety of Kontakt Instruments and a few Waves plugins (J-37, the Pultecs, etc). Anybody using either of these surfaces for these specific software instances within Logic?

Thanks a million. Hello Brian I've been using an Icon QCon Pro which uses the mackie protocol and is pretty much a clone of the Mackie Control Universal/MCU for over a year now with great pleasure. Last week I have come across a too-good-to-walk-away-deal (300 bucks, yay!) for a mint Euphonix MC Control V2 (=Avid Artist Control under the old Euphonix brand), so I can compare those two units together: QCon Pro (Mackie protocol): super stable protocol, affordable price tag (around 600 bucks), sturdy build (apart from the jog wheel), defaults nicely to LPX and all important controls are hands-on. Once successfully installed it never caused a glitch or crash in more than a year.
